The
Norfolk Naval Station is located on what was once, the site of the 1907
Jamestown Exposition; about 4,300 acres of a peninsula called Sewells
Point. In 1917, the Navy established a base there,
acquiring structures built for the Expo, with plans to renovate them to suit their needs.
