Rhodo - B4Hey Crew -

The move down the Coquille from the painting hooch to the harbour happened today. Pullout is for tomorrow Saturday at 11 am at the Bandon-by-the-Sea launch ramp.

Paul is committed, and paid already. We'll have her at Chad's boatwerks in Winchester Bay by mid-afternoon. I gave Paul the money today, and we got to talking. That's what you have to do with Paul; talk things over - no quick decisions.

Rhodo - AftaWindy as hell in Winchester Bay, as all up and down the coast. He wanted new tires on the trailer, a smart idea. We did some figgerin' on the keel depth of Rhodos (see her as she looked in 1964). He said maybe around 4 pm  it would die down so he could put his 26' in the water, then take the trailer to Les Schwab and replace the tires.

I opined as how junk truck tires would make good shims to make up for the extra keel depth of Rhodos. Suddenly he decided to put the boat in the water now. Needed help. I helped. I did everything he told me.

We got that boat tied to his 66' foot concrete, live-aboard. He went to wash his trailer hubs, and I went to get partner Dick at Chad'sDick (below/left) and we all met at Schwab's, and talked things over a bit. I got permission to use old Schwab tires, so Dick and I selected six strong wide treads and put them in Paul's truck. Rhodos will rest on them just fine. We be ready! Holloway After getting Rhodos downstream to Bandon - a real adventure - I was able to drop Holloway (right) and Peggy back at their rig at the painting hooch/former Rhodos dock, and get to where Dick and Roger had put Roger's tender in, by the time they got back to there from Bandon Harbor. There was a docking difficulty so, being the only one in shorts and deck shoes and the Greek fishing cap my favorite wife gave me and the Tommy Hilfiger™ windbreaker our eldest son gave me, I waded into the warm Coquille and saved the day, and we got Roger's boat out.

The MoveEarlier, during the move, I rode with Holloway from the hooch to the harbor, while Dick & Roger did yeoman heroics pulling us with the tender, so I got to use the tiller in Rhodos on the way downstream. Then, helping Paul free up the trailer, I got to man the tiller while he dropped the keel on his little boat-- so I got tiller time aboard two sailboats today! (L-R: Paul & Dick on the move).

I'm starting to get hooked on sailing. My Sea King will be the tender to Rhodos. And Rhodos will be a place to sleep on Winchester Bay for my beloved guests, after we get her off the blocks at Chad's. I am now living in a dream. I don't care who wins the NBA title tonight, even though I'll watch it a while on Yukon Jack.

BeaversUPDATE: Saturday, August 04, 2001 3:09 PM

Hey Maties - So it didn't rain this morning and I got the top trim on. It is bolder than this jam-cam shows, but you can see the effect. Rhodos should be in the water Mon or Tues. Oregon State U. colors, but I was a Duck.

- bill -luvyerfriendbill --Sure glad I checked my E today!

S'up & BEYOOTIFUL-- boat looks nice, too. Can you sail here in it, via the Panama Canal or has that gone the way of barbershop shaves, ear & neck trims? Really, thanks for the update dear, --R K
PS: You gonna' mail me your first Rockfish? Details if you bottom feed & take the hook below--
